Our First Anniversary

I can’t believe it’s already here. Our first anniversary as husband and wife (well on Sunday, but close enough 🙂 ). At times I feel like the time has flown by and at times I feel like we have been married for years and years. Since there are so many new faces here, I wanted to take a chance to share with you all a little more about us and share some fun details about our wedding! For those of you that do know us, I bet you will learn something new!

In honor of our first anniversary, I will be starting a new ‘Wedding Wednesday’ series on the blog. I’ve had so many friends and acquaintances that have become engaged reach out with questions about the wedding planning process. Although this process was extremely stressful for me at times, it was also a process I thoroughly enjoyed and put so much energy in. So why not share my advice?

I’m both excited and nervous to relive and share my wedding planning experience with all of you. Although there were so may exciting events happening during this time, there were also some lows that are difficult for me to even talk about, but are worth it to me to share with you. I told myself when I started blogging that I would be candid and honest with you all and that’s exactly what I plan to do!

Cody & I: What You May or May Not Know

  • We have known each other for less than 2.5 years
  • Cody told me he loved me and asked me to be his girlfriend on our first date! As of now I don’t know anyone else that this has happened to haha! It sounds crazy but I’m so happy it happened that way. When you know you know, right? Oh, and yes, I said it right back, because it was true! I think often we get so caught up with what the ‘right’ or ‘normal’ time is to say I love you, become official, get engaged, get married, etc., that we lose track of what it all really means! I truly believe that EVERY couple is different so there really is not ‘right’ or ‘normal’ answer!
  • We met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Missouri while Cody still lived in Houston
  • Cody pursued me consistently and made the move to St. Louis just 4 months later. Being apart from him those 4 months was so incredibly hard! I still vividly remember hysterically crying at the airport every time we’d fly back home after a visit.
  • We got engaged in July of 2016. Cody took me to ‘our spot’ in Forest Park and had planned a surprise engagement party! His family came all the way from Houston and two of my best friends came all the way from NYC. It meant the world to me and is still one of my most favorite memories from our season of engagement.
  • We were married on March 11, 2o17. This day could not have gone more perfectly. I am so excited to share with you each ‘Wedding Wednesday’ more and more details about our wedding and planning process! Stay tuned!

XO,

Hillary
