My Winter Date Ideas

My Winter Date Ideas

Confession: Cody and I have been staying in SO much lately. This is mainly because of how cold it has been and honestly just being too lazy to leave our warm house with our sweet pups! We also always feel bad leaving our dogs alone at home during our free time. Does this make us helicopter parents already? Anyway, back to the point… we need to get out more!

If there is one thing I’ve learned during our first year of marriage, it’s that you need to be intentional about your time together. Cody and I spend so much time together, which is great, but lately we have not been taking much time to do things together out of the house other than a casual dinner here and there. Well, I’ve decided to take on the cold and get out of this house – so I came up with some winter date ideas that we intend to do together that I hope will inspire you and your sweetie as well!

  • Day Date to Your Local Museums – Not a night owl? This is actually one thing that Cody and I will be doing to celebrate Valentine’s Day next weekend since I have parent/teacher conferences this week.  I have always loved going on ‘day dates,’ – for some reason they remind me of when we were first dating and I love that nostalgic, romantic feeling I get when we go on them. We will be going to the St. Louis Art Museum and the History Museum!

  • Go to a NEW Restaurant – This is one we are terrible at! We have so many favorite restaurants that we always go back to and rarely venture out to something new, but when we do it is so much fun! We tend to be hesitant of going somewhere new because 1. we don’t plan ahead and by the time we are hungry, we just go where we always go and 2. because we don’t want to spend money on a meal we may not enjoy! To get around these two reasons, we will 1. pick the restaurant ahead of time and 2. look at reviews to know what to order! Oh, and that shift dress I’m wearing was MADE for eating allll the foods so eat up!

  • Staycation – Not going out of town? Not to worry! Book a room for a night or a weekend at a hotel you’ve always wanted to go to in your city! We did this once and it was so much fun! We truly felt like we were on vacation! Try to find a hotel that has restaurants in walking distance! Pro Tip: go somewhere different for drinks or an appetizer, then to dinner, then to desert!

  • Find a Local Concert or Show – This one may take a little more planning but is totally worth it. Just get on the internet and look at the websites for your local venues or get on Ticketmaster and look at events in your city! I’ve recently learned that there are so many affordable events to go to if you just look! Pro Tip: want to go to a music show but don’t know the artist? Look them up on Spotify and give them a chance! You never know what you may discover. Sidenote: I’m accepting donations to go see Hamilton in April. Just sayin’…

Outfit Details

Nordstrom Shift Dress – Bought this dress in two colors because I’m that obsessed. Runs big so size down (I’m wearing an XS)! Oh, and it comes in TWELVE different colors AND is under $50! // Vince Camuto Booties – I love these booties as we transition into spring! They run slightly big, so go a half size down. // Kendra Scott Drop Earrings – Let’s just say that if I had a dollar for every time I’ve worn these, I wouldn’t need to work a day in my life! // Quay Australia Aviators // Curling Wand – I’m obsessed with how this wand makes my curls look so natural. I’ve used this wand almost everyday since owning it! // MAC Twig Lipstick – This color is so perfect for everyday. It has a very slight reddish/orangish hint to it that enhances a natural looking color!
