Sunless Tan Routine

Sunless Tan Routine

Recently I’ve had some questions about keeping my color, so I wanted to share about the sunless tan products that I have been using and why I’ve been loving them! With how long our Winter was, I was desperate to try something new to get some color! To be honest, the thought of using a self tanning product or going spray tanning use to scare me so much! All I could picture in my mind was coming out orange! It actually took me a long time to finally try out sunless tanning products!

I use to lay out a lot for my color… I even used tanning beds in college… YIKES! I am excited to now have safe products that give me the color I want without putting my skin at risk! I hope this helps you have peace of mind if you’ve also been thinking about trying a self tanning product!

For my Body:

After doing some research on my own, I decided to try out the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse for my body. I do NOT use this on my face (sharing my face product below) I’m not going to lie, I was a little scared about all of these words… Express? Bronzing? Mousse? After reading and hearing countless good reviews, I decided to just give it a try on a Friday afternoon so that I could hide form the world on Saturday incase it did not work out! 🙂

Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse

I have absolutely been loving this product. At first it seemed a little expensive but you only use it twice a week (every 3 days) and it lasts a very long time! Definitely worth the price. I highly recommend getting the applicator mitt as well so that you can get the most even coat as possible. The first time I used this I was so scared I’d come out orange and I was so wrong! The key to this product is that it is gradual. The mousse adds a perfect sun-kissed look to my skin and I could not be more pleased!

I plan to purchase the Dark Bronzing Mousse for my next bottle since it will be towards the end of Summer and my skin gets quite dark in the Summer. For those of you that do not have as dark of skin, do not be scared to try the regular Express Bronzing Mousse! It is a very light tint and I have been so pleased with how natural it appears!

For my Face:

I use the Coola Gradual Tan Face Serum for my face. This product seems like a bit of a splurge but trust me, IT IS GOING TO LAST A WHILE! You only use about 1 or 2 very small drops at a time. I just put it on my hands and then rub it all over my face and just a little below my chin and on my neck for a smooth transition. I have been using this every other day before I put on my makeup. I love this product again because it gives me such a natural look that keeps up with the mousse that I use on the rest of my body. Again, this was another highly reviewed product that I am very happy with!

Q&A:

Here are some original questions and hesitations I had about the self tanning products with my answers after using them. I figured these are probably similar questions you have as well! Have others? Comment your question below and I’d be happy to answer it!

  • 1. Can I apply it myself? – YES! Just switch up which hand you put the mitt on and you will be good to go.
  • 2. Does it apply evening? – YES! The mitt helps so much with this, which is why I highly recommend it. The mousse is so smooth and easily rubs in to your skin.
  • 3. Will I look orange? – Obviously everyone and every skin type is different so I can’t 100% answer this, but for me I have not looked orange at all! This was my biggest fear when I used it for the first time.
  • 4. How do you apply it? – You put the mousse on the mitt and then rub it all over your body. I use one pump at a time, rub it in and repeat and until I am finished. Directions are on the bottle, but you wait 1-3 hours depending on how dark you want it to get and then you rinse off. You can put your clothes back on after the mousse has dried on to your skin (about 5 minutes).
  • 5. Does it smell? – It does have a slight scent but after showering, the scent goes away.
