Weekend Getaway in Fredericksburg, Texas
Looking for the perfect weekend getaway in a charming town full of beautiful vineyards, but don’t have the budget for Napa? Fredericksburg, Texas is the perfect destination to get away from reality, sip on some delicious wine, and explore a town with charm at every step. Whether you are looking for a destination for a bachelorette trip, a couples get away, a weekend road trip with your family, or a romantic weekend with your spouse, Fredericksburg is an excellent choice.
For those who are not familiar with Fredericksburg, it is a small town in Texas, just west of Austin. It is most known for their large selection of vineyards to visit. We went on a tour with Absolute Charm Wine Tours and were able to visit three of the local wineries.
This past weekend, ten of us local Texas bloggers who have become very good friends of mine went to Fredericksburg. For most of us it was our first time and it’s safe to say that we will all be going back. I will for sure be going back since I wasn’t able to enjoy the wine this time!
Although we only spent a couple days in this charming town, we conquered a lot of ground in the short time we were there! I was receiving so many questions about where to stay, where to eat, etc., that I felt it would be best to put this into a blog post!
WHERE TO STAY:
We were hosted in an Airbnb owned by Absolute Charm Luxury Accommodations. Absolute charms has a large variety of rental options that would be fitting for a large group, families, or smaller parties as well. We stayed in the Bella Manor House that was perfect for our group of 10! I have never stayed somewhere so charming in my life! Absolute Charm owns many properties and most are in walking distance to town, making it so easy to get around! I look forward to going back to Fredericksburg with Cody and baby Cripps some time in the near future!
WHERE TO EAT:
There are so many great restaurants to choose from! I can’t wait to try some more when I go back! Here are some recommendations I can give from this weekend! We loved every restaurant that we went to!
- Sunset Grill // We went here for brunch on Saturday morning and it was delicious! This is your classic breakfast/brunch spot that has something for everyone on the menu!
- Emma & Ollie // We had brunch here on Sunday and the food was absolutely delicious. Their menu was small, but had very good selections!
- Vaudeville // We were planning on having dinner here since it was a top rated restaurant, but were not able to make it in time for our reservation after our wine tour! Although I have not eaten here yet, I would still put this on my recommendations list since so many recommended it to us for dinner and it has excellent reviews! I’d suggest making a reservation!
- Mamacita’s // Since we couldn’t make our dinner reservation at Vaudeville, we decided to go somewhere more casual. Mamacita’s is a casual, fun Mexican restaurant! The ambiance is nothing special, but it is definitely a lively place with good food, drink, prices and service! The green sauce that they served with the chips was out of this world!
WHAT TO DO:
My highest recommendation on what to do while in Fredericksburg would be to spend your time during the day visiting the beautiful vineyards! We went on a tour with Absolute Charm Wine Tours and were accompanied by a driver who took us to each winery! Attending three in one day was the perfect amount!
The first vineyard we went to was Hilmy Cellars. This vineyard was beautiful. I suggest having a glass outside with the beautiful view of the vineyard after your tasting. The people working here were extremely friendly and knew their wines very well!
Next we went to Signor Vineyards, which was by far all of our favorite vineyard. The ambiance at this one could not have been more beautiful! We probably could have stayed at this one all day. The florals around the property are alone enough reason to take a visit. I recommend getting the charcuterie board with your wine tasting for a mid day snack since most vineyards do not have much food!
We ended our tour at Lost Draw Cellars. This one was the most simple of the three! Although very simple, the girls loved the wine at this one!
Aside from the vineyards, there’s plenty do to on Main Street! There are blocks of local shops, restaurants and bars! My favorite spot was going to 78624 The Bar to hear our tour driver and his band in a beautiful piano bar. I felt like I was taken back to a different time period at this bar! They had a large drink menu, comfy couches and live music that we enjoyed!
There is something for everyone in Fredericksburg, Texas! I can not wait to go back! Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram with any other questions you may have!
