My First Week of BBG

Being active consistently has always been a challenge for me. It’s especially difficult for us to be active in the winter, when we can’t golf, play tennis, go on hikes, etc. The hardest part for me is physically getting myself to the gym. Anyone else with me? And if I’m being honest, I get intimated very easily at most gyms, which causes me to stray away from using the equipment due to the fact that I feel like everyone is judging/watching me (even though I’m sure they are not).

This past summer I found a gym that I liked because it was mostly old people and high schoolers… yay, no meat heads! I was at the gym almost everyday this past summer and absolutely loved it! But yet again, once I went back to work for the school year, I slowly stopped going because I was ‘too tired’ after work. We ended up cancelling our membership to this gym because it did not make sense for us to be paying for a pricier gym when we were not going as much as we needed to to justify the price.

So now here I was, 5 months later – not being consistently active, so I started something new!

This was my first week doing BBG (Bikini Body Guide) using the ‘Sweat’ app designed by Kayla Itsines! I have been seeing girls nonstop using this program so I figured, why not try it myself? For what I need right now, it has everything I need:

  • Commitment – the app has a daily planner that keeps you committed. There are different workouts for each day of the week.
    • Resistance (3 workouts per week)
      • Arms & Abs
      • Legs
      • Full Body
    • Cardio (3 workouts per week)
      • LISS (Low-Intensity Steady State)
        • walking, cycling. or swimming.
      • HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
        • running, cycling, or rowing
    • Rest ( 1 time per week)
      • You can choose to take a day of rest or there are some low-intensity workouts for your upper, lower, or full body that you can do
  • NO GYM – You can do ALL of the workouts at home! The app does cost money but it is so much cheaper than most gyms! All you need is a yoga mat and a bench (or a sturdy chair)!
  • Variety – There are a variety of plans and different workouts each day depending on what plan you choose. One of my problems at the gym is that I get bored doing the same thing!
  • Teaching – I really need guidance and teaching when it comes to working out. I use to go to personal training in high school (oh how I miss when I was dependent on my parents, ha!), but now (obviously) can’t afford that. I use to look up different workouts on Pinterest but I just ended up finding too many different exercises and was getting lost in it all
  • Routine – Each workout is 28 minutes long, which makes it so easy for me to be able to fit that time into my schedule everyday!
  • Community – There is so much community via Instagram with this program. I’m so excited to follow along with other women trying to look and feel their best!

I’ll being share monthly (and honest) updates about this new journey along with activewear options for you!
