Wedding Wednesday: Invitations By Minted
I am so excited to be posting again for Wedding Wednesday! I have been in another blogging funk this week, mainly because it’s been difficult to get quality pictures for my content, but not to worry – I’ll be back in full swing shortly! I have SO much to share with y’all for planning a wedding. Of course, not all my readers are getting married but you never know when you’ll be given an opportunity to give someone advice when they are planning.
When I first started looking into save the dates and invitations, I was blown away with how expensive some were! I almost thought about not even doing save the dates because I didn’t think it was worth the money – until I discovered Minted! I actually reached out to my photographer, Mike Cassimatis, for his suggestion in this area for something more affordable since invitations was something I wanted to save some money on. I’m shocked that I had no heard of this company sooner.
As you can see from the pictures, I ended up adding a reception card, directions card and an RSVP card. I always joke with Cody about what I would do differently for our next wedding… Ha! But in all seriousness, I originally was planning on saving some money when it came to invitations (and I totally would have if I had stuck to the original plan of just invitations), but I got a little carried away 🙂 Surprising, right? Here is a break down of of each item from my invitations with my thoughts on each!
Wedding Invitations:
-
I could not have been happier with these. I wanted ‘simple elegance’ with my invitations and that’s exactly what I got! I added a scalloped edging around the corners for a little extra touch!
-
Mine were the pearlescent paper, which was slightly more expensive but I felt was worth it for the look that I was going for.
- I also decided to add the matching ‘Thank You’ cards! I was happy with this decision since they came with envelopes that had our return address already on them, and they were personalized!
- What I would have done differently: I would have added a small note about directions, rsvping and the reception on the back rather than doing separate cards for each.
RSVP Cards:
- What I love about Minted is that for each design, they have all the cards you want to match with so many customizable options.
- I was very happy with the information that I put on these cards. I added a note about parking at the bottom since it was a confusing parking situation.
- What I would have done differently: I’m on the fence with this. Sometimes I think it would have been just fine having people RSVP via TheKnot.com but I have this thing where I convince myself that technology is going to fail me, so I almost always lean towards paper. I also thought it was fun to get these back in the mail!
Directional Cards:
- I’m sure most could do without a directional card but since our ceremony was at a chapel on a college campus, I was nervous people would get lost. Since I am such a details person, I think adding this was a comfort to myself. I don’t know about you but I ALWAYS forget to bring the invite or information cards when I go to a wedding. I’d be pretty surprised if anyone actually used these. I also had signs ALL over the campus. Yes, yes, I know. I have issues and went a little overboard…
- What I would have done differently: I wish I could say that I’d cut these out but honestly, knowing myself, I’d probably still have kept them just for comfort and my own sanity.
Reception Cards:
- My thoughts on these are pretty similar to the directional cards. I honestly ordered these because marketing got the best of me and when I saw the ‘Dinner & Dancing’ design, I just had to add them!
- What I would have done differently: Adding a simple note about the reception on the invitation would have been an easy way to save some money!
Personalized Stamps:
- This was such a fun addition and I felt like these made the envelopes look so much more elegant. I did my postage stamp research before ordering these since they are slightly more expensive than a normal stamp and I just could NOT find anything I liked. Honestly, all I wanted was something very simple with no color and that was like finding a needle in a haystack. My current stamps are ‘unique pets’ if that gives you any idea of the postage stamp market these days.
- What I would have done differently: I would have FOR SURE double checked the weight of my envelope before ordering the size! I last minute FREAKED OUT (shocker), because I wasn’t sure if they weight would be too much for the stamp. I called Minted in a total panic and they were incredibly helpful. They got all of my exact cards and weight them to check for me!
Free Addressing:
- I HIGHLY recommend downloading the Minted Excel template for your contacts and using their FREE addressing service! I was so nervous about this but it turned out perfectly! Not a single mistake! It automatically saves your contacts, which made it so easy for us to order and address our Christmas cards from them this year!
- There is also a variety of fonts to choose from for your envelopes!
Pro Tip: Minted often has sales so make sure to always check the top of the website to see if there is a discount code available for a percentage off!
Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful! Don’t forget to leave any questions you have in the comments below!
