Stepping Out Of Your (Style) Comfort Zone

Before we start talking about this look, I need to brag on my husband real quick – He offered to take pictures for me and did all of these (along with 3 other looks this same evening) and put so much effort into getting the perfect shot for each outfit. I am SO incredibly thankful for this man God gave to me that supports me and all of my wild dreams.

Stepping out of my comfort zone with my style & my life  is something I have NEVER been good at and actually really struggle with! I’ll share more about how this is difficult for me to do in my life another day, because today’s post is all about style!

One reason why I’ve always loved fashion is because it provides so many opportunities to step out of your comfort zone in your own style and get creative with what you wear. I’ve always been fascinated by creating completely new outfits with different pieces from my wardrobe. I use to convince myself that I couldn’t “pull something off” because it wasn’t necessarily MY style. I’ve been allowing myself to step out of my comfort zone more with my style and it has been so much fun and has actually made me more confident in my style!

Some of my most favorite outfits have come from ones where I step slightly out of my comfort zone to create something new and different that is still fitting for me. When I first started blogging, I had some people ask questions about if I wanted people to copy my whole look. The answer is NO! My hope is to inspire you with ideas of how to style pieces that you already own and if you see something you like of mine along the way, buy it! I think many bloggers would agree with me on this one. A common misconception is that fashion bloggers want everyone to look just like them and that is completely untrue! Creating YOUR style is something completely unique to you and is yet another reason why I love fashion and styling.

This outfit, for example, is actually pretty far out of my comfort zone and I love that about it! I have always been attracted to maxi skirts but just assumed that since I was short, it wouldn’t look good. As soon as I saw this pink, ruffled maxi skirt online I knew I had to have it and at least try it out – and turns out, it looks great! Typically I would never wear something like this, but I actually felt really confident in this whole look! As long as you truly like a product, don’t be afraid to try it – even if you think “that’s not me.” You never know… maybe it IS you!

Not sure where to start when stepping out of your style comfort zone? Buy something that you’ve been wanting to try without spending a lot and see how you feel! That’s what I did with this skirt ($60)! Baby steps, people!

I’d love to hear how you have stepped out of your comfort zone with style in the past or what ideas you have to do so! Comment your thoughts below!

XO,
